The Sussex region is so fortunate to now have the Bee Me Kidz program, housed at Sussex Corner Elementary School since October of 2023. The impact it is having on local families was clear yesterday when I visited during an open house with my colleagues Jill Green, MLA for Fredericton North and Minister of Social Development and Housing, and Minister for Indigenous Affairs and Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour Arlene Dunn (MLA for Saint John Harbour). It was more than I imagined as we spent time with board members, teachers, children and parents/guardians/grandparents and saw and heard about the 100 children (and there’s room for more) gathering weekly for this free program to “Be The Best Me They Can Bee”.
The Bee Me Kidz Saturday program offers a free family brunch, fosters strong family bonds, builds community connections, improves mental health and provides essential support for parents and children. We all need that support, regardless of income or situation. I am so grateful for the government of NB support on this program because it is changing lives.
