This year the Agricultural Museum of New Brunswick is celebrating 40 years. So many dedicated volunteers have worked hard to ensure the stories of farming in the Sussex region and across the province stay alive. You really should stop in for a visit.

Art makes our world more beautiful and I applaud the mayor and council of the Communauté rurale de Beausoleil for showing their leadership by recognizing that with a new art gallery at its municipal hall. Providing opportunities for citizens to access art is so important. Tonight the gallery opened with the incredible works of artist Janine Daigle. What a gifted painter.

Today was the most special day in Sussex as students of several grades covered the grounds of Sussex Middle School with a sea of cardboard squares to create a massive, temporary mural featuring the childhood image of Phyllis Webstad of BC. She is a residential school survivor, and founder of Orange Shirt Day and the Every Child Matters movement. The opportunity for our children to learn about truth and reconciliation was powerful, even more so with Phyllis Webstad here in Sussex for the project. I was so happy to support the project with funds through the Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture. The project is the brainchild of retired SRHS art teacher Bonny Hill who we all know for her local contribution to the arts and advocacy work. Wonderful job everyone.
