Citizens Heroism Award - Cory Proctor and Rick Burgess

An act of pure selflessness was recognized in a special way during Friday night’s Sussex Fire Department banquet.

Cory Proctor and Rick Burgess are not firefighters, which makes the reality that they rushed into a burning home to save the woman who lived there even more amazing. That fire happened on April 24 on the Urney Road in Waterford.

Things like that don’t happen everyday. To recognize just how incredible these men are the provincial Office of the Fire Marshall created the new Citizens Heroism Award which was presented to Cory and Rick by Fire Marshall Michael Lewis. This award will be presented to New Brunswick heroes going forward in these exceptional circumstances.

I am so proud of these guys.

Final Day of the 60th Legislature

On Friday we wrapped up our final day of the 60th Legislature. So much great work has been done within these four walls and I am proud to be here as the representative of the wonderful people of Sussex-Fundy-St.Martins and minister of Tourism, Heritage and Culture.
