The Platinum Jubilee of Elizabeth II is being celebrated this year in the Commonwealth to mark the 70th anniversary of the accession of Queen Elizabeth II on February 6, 1952. Today I reflect on where I was 20 years ago when the Queen visited Sussex as part of her Golden Jubilee celebrating her 50-year reign. She only made a couple stops in Atlantic Canada and Sussex was so fortunate to be one of them. I remember the excitement of that day as I covered the event as a reporter for the Times & Transcript in Moncton. This little town and its people sure rolled out the red carpet that day…what a wonderful memory for so many people.
