Learn to Camp Initiative Wraps Up a Successful First Season

As summer comes to a close, a new provincial parks program is wrapping up a successful first season. The Learn to Camp initiative will host its final event on Sept. 10 at Mactaquac Provincial Park.

Open to first-time campers at parks around the province, the program introduced more than 100 people to skills ranging from campsite setup to cooking outdoors. The initiative focused on teaching people how to camp without leaving anything behind afterwards.

Participants learned valuable new skills to help them enjoy our majestic provincial parks. I am delighted with the interest in the program and look forward to next season. Camping is one of the best ways to enjoy our beautiful province.

In addition to hosting participants for a weekend to learn camping skills, parks staff organized several special events this year, including a beaver pond tour, Madawaska River tour and a dark-sky star party in collaboration with the Astrological Society of Canada.

The Learn to Camp program took place in partnership with Subaru Canada.
