New measures are in place to better support individuals in accessing help with housing through a new housing website and the availability of one-on-one support from housing navigators.
“We are making it easier for residents to find the information and help they need on housing,” said Service New Brunswick Minister Jill Green, who is also minister responsible for housing. “Tenants, landlords, developers or homeowners can now call our toll-free line to get help from one of our new housing navigators or visit our new website for up-to-date information.”
Housing navigators are available from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, at 1-833-355-3262 to answer questions related to
·General information on housing and housing programs.
·Connecting homeowners, tenants, landlords and developers with available services and support.
·Helping residents in meeting basic needs and overcoming challenges related to housing.
Tenants and landlords with questions or concerns regarding a tenancy should continue to call the Residential Tenancies Tribunal at 1-888-762-8600. This includes matters related to a rent increase, termination or eviction notice, security deposit or information on rights and obligations.
“Building vibrant and sustainable communities is one of our government’s top priorities,” said Green. “We will continue to address housing challenges to ensure we are helping people at various stages of the housing continuum with a focus on our province’s most vulnerable.”
