QMJHL Name Change to Include Maritimes

New Brunswickers sure love their hockey and they are incredibly proud to be home to three “Q” league teams - Saint John Sea Dogs, Acadie-Bathurst Titan and Moncton Wildcats. In September I met Mario Cecchini, commissioner for what, until today, has been know as the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. We talked about the banning of fighting in the league, safe sport and positive changes being made to the culture of hockey, and we spoke of the league name. Today I was so pleased to get a call by Commissioner Cecchini an hour before he announced the name of the league changing to Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League. It has a nice ring to it….thank you for the great news!! Be sure to support your QMJHL teams this winter… make a great Christmas gift or stocking stuffer.
