As an MLA and women’s minister living in a rural riding, I am especially grateful for the work Dr. Deborah Doherty has done as it relates to the abuse women in rural areas endure. They are often more isolated and their suffering goes unnoticed. Dr. Doherty is the recipient of the 2022 Muriel McQueen Fergusson Foundation Award for her exemplary leadership and commitment to the prevention and elimination of family violence. It was a special opportunity to honour her at Government House with our Lieutenant Governor Brenda Murphy.
