Celebrating Novelist Antonine Maillet in Bouctouche

What an incredible day I had in Bouctouche as Minister of Tourism, Heritage and Culture celebrating the queen of Acadian culture, Antonine Maillet. She is now 92 and lives in Quebec but was home for a visit to her native Bouctouche for a reception our government held in her honour on Wednesday. The Acadian novelist has written approximately 40 novels and plays, most notably La Sagouine in 1971. What an incredible storyteller and inspirational woman.

Among those I was lucky to spend my day with were Minister of Local Government Reform Daniel Allain, Carleton MLA Bill Hogan, Kent South MLA Benoit Bourque, Shippagan Mayor Kassim Doumbia, Bouctouche Mayor Aldeo Saulnier and federal Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs and Beauséjour MP Dominic LeBlanc.
