International Women's Day 2021

On International Women’s Day, let’s pause and celebrate the women in our lives.

The impact of COVID-19 has had an alarming and disproportionate effect on women. The pandemic has led to circumstances that may increase the incidence of domestic violence and the level of risk and danger for those subjected to domestic violence.

Yet, women and girls around the world persevere and continue to shape a more equal future. They make up the majority of health-care and essential workers; they make the health and wellness of their families a priority and continue to be a primary support for their children; and they are at the frontlines, battling this pandemic. Women leaders and organizations have demonstrated the skills, knowledge and networks to effectively lead COVID-19 response efforts.

Feminist Recovery is the national theme for International Women’s Day this year. Women are the future, the hope and the recovery that will carry us through this pandemic.

New Brunswick women, for your strength and your perseverance, you are our leaders. This year, on this International Women’s Day, New Brunswick thanks you.
