I was so happy as Minister of Tourism, Heritage and Culture to help cut the ribbon on the Coastal Link Trail in St. Stephen this morning. We have seen with COVID that never before have our outdoor spaces meant more to New Brunswick families. This segment of the trail will stretch from the CAN-US border in St. Stephen to the Trans Canada Trail in Saint John. In the end this trail will link the 24,000-kilometre Trans Canada Trail to the 5,000-kilometre East Coast Greenway that runs from Calais, Maine to Key West, Florida. What an excellent opportunity for walkers, runners and cyclists to stay active and well, and to bridge gaps with our neighbours. I was joined by my colleague Saint Croix MLA Kathy Bockus, St. Stephen Mayor Allan MacEachern, Eric Gionet of the Trans Canada Trail board of directors, and Darren Turner who serves on the board of directors for the Coastal Link Trail.
